“Examining Theology Beyond Institutional Religion.”
The Most Reverend Dr. Kelvin Simmons, D.Div.
Ordained Minister • Certified Bishop • Certified Imam • Universalist Theologian • 2018 Cancer Survivor – Founder & Director — New Hope Theological Society (NHTS)
Dr. Kelvin Simmons is a Universalist theologian, independent scholar, and founder of the New Hope Theological Society (NHTS), a platform dedicated to examining theology beyond institutional religion and restoring awareness of pre-colonial spiritual systems.
Holding a Doctorate of Divinity and certifications as both Bishop and Imam, Dr. Simmons operates across religious frameworks—bridging Christianity, Islam, and ancestral traditions—while critically analyzing how theology has been shaped by historical power, colonization, and institutional control.
His work is not rooted in defending doctrine, but in examining its origin.
Through his research and writing, Dr. Simmons focuses on:
- The foundations of theology before organized religion
- African, Indigenous, and global ancestral belief systems
- The transformation of spirituality through empire and colonization
- The construction of religious doctrine, including concepts such as the Trinity
- The relationship between culture, identity, and spiritual systems
- The unseen realm across civilizations (spirits, angels, jinn, and metaphysical traditions)
His approach challenges inherited belief systems and encourages individuals to move beyond passive acceptance into informed understanding and spiritual independence.
As a 2018 cancer survivor, Dr. Simmons brings lived experience into his work—grounding his message in resilience, clarity, and transformation beyond fear-based religious narratives.
Through the New Hope Theological Society (newhopetheologicalsociety.org), he is building a global platform for research, dialogue, and education—focused on reconnecting individuals with foundational truths rooted in culture, history, and human origin.
